After sidestepping Cannes despite its summer release date and pedigree, we weren’t sure what to make of Woody Allen’s latest effort “Blue Jasmine.” Sony Pictures Classics has finally revealed their trailer for Allen’s follow up to “To Rome With Love,” and by the looks of it, it looks to be a much stronger effort than that misfire, with Cate Blanchett in great form as his latest heroine.
Set back on U.S. shores, San Francisco specifically, Allen’s new film follows the titular Jasmine (Blanchett), a woman who moves back in with her sister (Sally Hawkins) after suffering a financial setback. This being an Allen joint, the ensemble cast is chock-a-block full of great talent that includes Louis C.K., Alec Baldwin, Bobby Cannavale and Peter Sarsgaard.
The film opens in select theaters July 26. Watch the trailer below.
