If “Insidious: Chapter 2” is half as terrifying as “Chapter One,” everyone better prepare themselves for a truly frightening Friday the 13th. The first trailer for “Insidious: Chapter 2” — opening nationwide Friday, September 13 — picks up with the Lambert family right where we left them: in the clutches of an angry demon. Patrick Wilson and Rose Byrne are back as the parents of Dalton, a young boy tortured by the ghost of an old woman who may have altered her target this time around. Though we don’t learn much of the plot — perhaps because further exposition would spoil the cliffhanger ending of the original — the trailer’s eerie music, dark settings and stalwart cast are more than enough to lure us back for a second helping of horror.
FilmDistrict, the movie’s distributor, is already hard at work promoting the low-budget sequel. The company unveiled the trailer at the supposedly haunted Linda Vista Hospital in Los Angeles on June 4 and director James Wan made an appearance to briefly discuss the film. According to Kara Warner of Yahoo Movies, Wan said, “This film is grounded more in the real world and the haunting has nothing to do with the house, it’s The Further.” He also hinted at elements of time travel (whaaat?) and promised the film would answer questions left open in the original, possibly including how Josh (Patrick Wilson) discovered his gift.
Check out the trailer below and let us know if you’ll be anxiously awaiting the second chapter’s release on Friday the 13th.
