Check Out the Great Poster for Spike Lee's 'Oldboy' Remake Featuring Josh Brolin Inside a Chest

We’re still a few months out from the debut of Spike Lee’s remake of
Park Chan-Wook’s “Oldboy,” with an October 25h release date planned, so
it’s understandable that we haven’t seen too much promotional material
yet, save for a teaser poster. Today FilmDistrict unveiled the first proper poster for the thriller, featuring the film’s cool-looking star Josh Brolin, ahead of the red-band trailer which drops July 10th.

According to FilmDistrict, the poster is a shot from the film (instead of a composed comp) and is a nod to the trailer — “you’ll understand more once you see it,” they promise. Neil Kellerhouse (who also worked on the poster design for “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo,” another English-language remake helmed by an American auteur) designed the poster. The title treatment is Brolin’s real handwriting, inspired by the handwritten letters his character writes to his daughter in the film.

out the artwork below and check back on Wednesday for the trailer.
