Writer Bret Easton Ellis and “American Gigolo” writer-director Paul
Schrader took a creative approach to promoting their upcoming indie “The Canyons,” prior to it being picked up by IFC Films, via a number of crafty teasers (like this black-and-white ’50s inspired one) that promised a sordid camp fest starring Hollywood wild child Lindsay Lohan and hotshot porn star James Deen. Today, IFC Films finally released their first official trailer for the film ahead of its August 2nd theatrical and VOD release date, and it promises something altogether different and, possibly, more trenchant.
