Why Elisabeth Hasselbeck Likes the View from Fox News

Clearly, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, 36, likes the view from Fox News more than the one at The View.

She is joining Fox and Friends, the news channel’s signature morning program.

Hasselbeck, who first made her TV mark as a contestant on Survivor, follows Barbara Walters and Joy Behar to leave ABC’s popular The View, which is retooling for the new TV season.

TV analysts will no doubt question whether Hasselbeck’s conservative political views caused a rift with her more liberal fellow panelists on The View.

Hasselbeck will be in good company at Fox, which has a large and loyal right-wing audience. She will not have to worry of she is sounding too red state in what she says, for fear of offending parent Walt Disney or the Manhattan and Washington elite or her fellow panelists to boot.

Now, The View can retool in time for the start of the fall season, too. Hasselbeck worked on The View for 10 years — a lifetime today in the TV world. She must’ve been ding something right during that time.

Fox News Chairman and CEO Roger Ailes confirmed that the 36-year-old TV personality will take the place of “Fox & Friends” co-host Gretchen Carlson, who will soon anchor a one-hour daytime program starting in the fall. For more news:

“Elisabeth’s warm and engaging personality made her a star on The View,” Ailes said. “She has proven to be an excellent conversationalist, and I am certain she will make a great addition to our already successful morning franchise.”
