Ben Stiller's 'The Secret Life of Walter Mitty' to Make World Premiere at New York Film Festival

The Film Society of Lincoln Center announced today that Ben Stiller’s highly anticipated adaptation of James Thurber’s “The Secret Life of Walter Mitty” will make its World Premiere as the Centerpiece Gala presentation for the 51st New York Film Festival.

Stiller directed and stars in the adaptation of the 1939 classic story that’s part fantasy, part reality in which a gloomy magazine reporter sets off on life changing adventure. Kristen Wiig co-stars as Stiller’s co-worker who captures his heart, with Shirley MacLaine, Adam
Scott, Kathryn Hahn, Patton Oswalt and Sean Penn rounding out the supporting cast. 

“Ben Stiller has expanded on James Thurber’s beloved short story and crafted a beautifully lyrical comic epic, grounded in present day realities and concerns,” said NYFF’s Director of
Programming and Selection Committee Chair, Kent Jones. “‘The Secret Life of Walter Mitty’ is one terrific ride,
and I’m thrilled that we’re able to present it as our Centerpiece screening.”

sure it was the one at Lincoln Center and not one in Utica or somewhere.”    

The 51st New York Film Festival 
previously announced Paul Greengrass’ “Captain Phillips” as its Opening Night Gala selection and runs from Sept. 27 through Oct. 13.
