Distribution and marketing company D&E Entertainment, which specializes in bringing alternative content events to movie theaters, has joined forces with Spotlight Cinema Networks, the industry leader in advertizement for specialty and art house theaters that aim to present audiences with unique content from both the indie and foreign cinematic realms.
The partnership will form a premier alliance between the content distributor and Spotlight’s sophisticated exhibition network that includes Landmark Theaters, Angelika Film Center, and Laemmle Theaters. “With our newly formed partnership with D&E Entertainment, Spotlight is able to continue its efforts to maximize revenues while providing quality content for its exhibitor partners,” said Ronnie Ycong, Vice President of Exhibitor Relations,
Spotlight Cinema Networks.
By joining forces the two companies hope to revitalize this sector of the industry by appealing to educated and affluent audiences who seek alternative content offerings to what the mainstream Hollywood distribution and exhibition systems usually provide. “We
feel this is a perfect alignment for D&E, Spotlight and its cinema
partners. D&E Entertainment will help theatres’ expand their content offerings and build additional
revenue by bringing new audiences to their theaters,” stated Evan Saxon
and Doug Kluthe, Co-Founders of D&E.
The first two releases to come out of this deal are Randall Miller’s CBGB and Thomas Dolby’s The Invisible Lighthouse. The former is a historical fiction feature about the legendary venue in N.Y.’s Lower East Side, which became a landmark for the punk rock scene from 1973 to 2006, it stars Alan Rickman, Donal Logue, and Rupert Grint among others. Dolby’s work, on the other hand, is part film and part live performance. The artist narrates and scores his film live in each presentation, and then follows with a small concert of his most memorable songs and an engaging Q&A. Touring in the U.K this fall, this unique experience will come to delight audiences in the U.S thanks to this new collaboration.
