The Coral Gables Art Cinema is a state-of-the-art 141-seat theater located in downtown Coral Gables, with full 35mm, and 2K Digital Cinema Projection with 3D capability. The theater is one of Florida’s most important, premiere, first-run art houses. It is a project of the non-profit Coral Gables Cinemateque, Inc. Position: Operations Manager at the Coral Gables Art Cinema
Job Description: Full-time, salaried, permanent
Reports to: Director of Cinema
Start Date: September 2013

A unique, challenging opportunity for accomplishment and growth in the non-profit arts and film world. The Operations Manager performs a variety of administrative, operational, managerial and leadership tasks to provide for day-to-day operations of the Cinema, develop and maintain community and sponsor support, and sustain film programs, at the level of excellence for which the organization has become known.

Duties: Manage Cinema office, including supplies, systems and supervise facilities as needed Manage Cinema financial records, including invoicing and payments Provide organizational and administrative support to the Director and Executive Director Provide organizational and administrative support to the Board of Directors Coordinate and supervise theater operations staff Manage membership campaigns, along with donor and contact databases Manage sponsor fulfillment and take initiative in sponsor solicitation Manage rentals and outside use of Cinema Manage and help produce grant applications Coordinate special events, include planning and executing Collaborate in marketing of the Cinema Develop and coordinate a variety of film and cinema projects, such as engagement with existing film programming and visiting artist programs, and participating in developing new film initiatives

Skills Required:

Strong managerial, administrative and organizational skills Ability to work within a team-setting Excellent spoken and written business English: Ease with spoken and written Spanish strongly preferred Good telephone and oral communication skills

Proficiency on both Macintosh and Windows platforms, including Microsoft Word and Excel, mail programs, basic database, design and web experience (Quick Books, Filemaker Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator. Constant Contact, web design skills are desirable) Ease with Multi-taskingEfficiency Track record of being detail-oriented and punctual Strong work ethic Self-motivating and self-starting

Experience Required:

A minimum of three years experience in arts administration and management Track record with financial management Experience with fundraising and grant writing Strong familiarity with and enthusiasm for the arts, culture, film and the diverse communities of Miami

Experience with some aspects of film festivals, film programming, theater management and/or event production B.A. required

Schedule: 9 – 5, Monday to Friday hours, with additional evening and weekend hours required regularly as part of position for staff supervision, special events and meetings, and as deadlines dictate


Must have driver’s license and car Must have a passion for film
