Watch: A Pair Of Hilarious New 'Prince Avalanche' Clips

If you’ve read past write-ups on director David Gordon Green’s film, “Prince Avalanche,” then you know we at The Playlist love it. It made our Best Films of the Year…So Far list, and writer Rodrigo Perez gave it an “A-” in his Sundance review.

With the movie coming to theaters next week, clips are starting to roll in and we have two for your viewing pleasure. The movie follows Lance (Emile Hirsch) and Alvin (Paul Rudd), two highly differing personalities forced to spend time together during a job. The movie is getting a slew of praise, and the two clips below highlight the meditative quality of the film and the relationship between the actors. In the first, minute long clip, Hirsch, who is something of a screw-up, and whose sister is married to Rudd, asks him if he gets lonely being out in the charred-up forest for so long. “Didn’t you get lonely, so lonely?” Hirsch asks. Rudd quickly replies, with his curt air of faux intellectualism: “There’s a difference between being lonely and being alone. I reap the rewards of solitude.” Rudd describes what he does with his time in the wilderness, until Hirsch groans: “I get so horny out here in nature.”

The second clip, also around a minute long, has Hirsch talking about a girl that he’s got a girl that he’s into. Rudd seems weirdly invested in Hirsch’s tale of hooking up with his best friend’s girlfriend at a “dance club,” although he’s also mortified. The way Hirsch delivers the lines, in his laid-back horn dog vibe, is priceless, and the brief scene goes a long way in terms of showcasing the two actors’ amazing chemistry and the way that the comedy in “Prince Avalanche” works.

The clips are included below.  “Prince Avalanche” hits theaters and VOD August 9th. —additional reporting by Drew Taylor
