As Billy Bob Thornton rejoins the Coen brothers’ for their new “Fargo” TV series, at long last, his fest circuit veteran “Jayne Mansfield’s Car” will be available on-demand August 20th and in theaters on September 13 via Anchor Bay Films. Marking “Slingblade” director Thornton’s first film since 2001’s “Daddy and Them,” “Jayne Mansfield’s Car” was co-written with Tom Epperson.
Set in 1969, the comedy brings two sides of a sprawling family back to Alabama to mourn the loss of their matriarch. On the American side are Thornton, Robert Duvall, Kevin Bacon, and Robert Patrick, while the Brits include John Hurt, Ray Stevenson, and Frances O’Connor.
