The Rome Film Festival — which will be running this November from the 8th to the 17th — announced today four films which will be in competition, including a couple major American films.

The films include “Dallas Buyers Club,” which premiered recently at the Toronto Film Festival. Director Spike Jonze‘s film Her which stars Oscar winner Joaquin Phoenix and Scarlett Johansson will also be in competition. It tells the story of a lonely writer who begins a relationship with his new A.I. operating system.

Also in competition is “Out of the
Furnace,” from director Scott Cooper (“Crazy Heart”). The family drama starring Christian Bale as  Russell Baze, a former inmate recently released from prison, must decide whether to give up his own freedom or seek justice for his
brother. It hasn’t been announced to screen at any other festival yet, though AFI seems like a strong possibility just before Rome.

Finally, “Another Me” by Spanish filmmaker and screenwriter Isabel Coixet(“My Life without Me“) and stars “Game of Thrones actress Sophie Turner will also screen in Rome. In the psychological thriller based on the novel of the same name, a teenage girl is haunted by a secret past and is in search of inner peace.
