IFC Midnight Nabs Sci-Fi Horror 'Almost Human' Before Fantastic Fest Bow

IFC Midnight has acquired North American rights to writer-director Joe Begos’ sci-fi horror film “Almost Human.” “Almost Human” premiered in the Midnight Madness section of the 2013
Toronto International Film Festival and is set to screen at the genre
film festival Fantastic Fest in Austin, Texas.

In “Almost Human,” Seth (Skipper) witnesses his best friend Mark abruptly vanish in a flash of blue light and vows to discover his fate after a string of axe murders and alien abductions rock the small Maine town. Written and direct by Begos, the film stars Graham Skipper, Vanessa Leigh and Josh Ethier.

Begos rejoiced at the prospect of joining the IFC Midnight genre film family, noting, “I’m so excited to be under the same roof as some of my favorite genre films of the past few years like ‘Maniac,’ ‘Kill List,’ and one of my personal favorites from this year’s Toronto International Film Festival, ‘The Stations.’ I couldn’t be more excited about the prospects of my film and working with IFC Midnight to get it in front of as many genre fans as possible.”

The acquisitions deal for “Almost Human” was negotiated by Arianna Bocco, Senior Vice President of Acquisitions & Productions and Sean Berney, Manager of Acquisitions for Sundance Selects/IFC Films with ICM Partners and Caliber Media negotiating on the filmmakers’ behalf.
