Magnolia Pictures Promotes Peter Van Steemburg and John Von Thaden

Pictures, the Wagner/Cuban Company’s vehicle of theatrical and home
entertainment distribution, have announced Peter Van Steemburg’s
promotion to VP of Acquistions and John Von Thaden’s promotion to
Director of Acquisitions.

Magnolia’s SVP of Acquisitions Dori Begley
expressed her pride in and support for her two colleagues, remarking
that, “In this occasionally unwieldy corner of the business, Peter
and John truly help me sleep at night.” Van Steemburg, who previously
worked at Miramax Films and Cinetic Media, joined Magnolia in 2008 and
has since participated in negotiations for, among other films, The
Hunter, Drinking Buddies, Europa Report as well as the soon to be
released Alan Partridge and Nymphomaniac.Prior to joining Magnolia in
2011, Von Thaden worked at both IFC Films and New Line Cinema in New
York and Los Angeles. With recent releases such as David Gordon Green’s
Prince Avalanche, Terrence Malick’s To The Wonder and Thomas
Vinterberg’s The Hunt, Magnolia’s promotions fortify what Begley has
called Van Steemburg and Von Thaden’s, “preternatural instinct for
Magnolia’s unique interests.”
