Watch: Hollywood & Vines, The First Short Film Shot Entirely On Vine

Remember back in August when we told you that Airbnb was crowdsourcing a short film made entirely of Vines? Well, the film — featuring 100 Vines selected from 750 submissions — is finished and it was released online and on The Sundance Channel this week.

The company released a shot-list over Twitter asking for submissions and promising a $100 Airbnb credit to anyone whose submission was included in the final film. In
all, the project attracted over 750 six second submissions from around the world
and 100 Vines were used in the final film, which was released online and
on Sundance Channel this week.

According to Airbnb’s YouTube page, “Hollywood & Vines” is the first film directed via Twitter and shot
entirely on Vine. For four days, people around the world worked with the
director to share in the creation of a single story about travel,
adventure and finding your place in the world. This is the result of
that global experiment, featuring 100 Viners from everywhere from Kansas
to Kuwait.”

The 4 1/2 minute film, which Airbnb calls “an artful story about travel, adventure, and finding your place in the world” follows a sheet of office paper-turned-paper airplane as it explores the world — and morphs into paper creations such as an origami swan, a love letter, a child’s artwork, a fortune cookie message and a crumpled piece of trash. Cover your eyes unless you’re ready for some envelope-on-envelope action and be warned, you might never think of paper in the same way. Which makes us wonder — is this an ad for the web site which helps you find cool places to rent around the world or an ad for paper products? Either way, it’s a sweet film (cue the tinkling piano music and cute kid!) that’s worth checking out regardless of the inventive process with which it was crafted.
