BBC America Greenlights 'Intruders,' a Thriller Series From 'X-Files' Writer Glen Morgan

While ‘X-Files’ stars Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny have been celebrating the series’ 20th anniversary and show creator Chris Carter has landed a pilot at newcomer to the TV biz Amazon, other alumni of the supernatural drama have been finding their own notable successes. Vince Gilligan you need no update on, but Glen Morgan, who with writing partner James Wong scripted many memorable “X-Files” installments (as well as episodes of “Millennium,” “Space: Above and Beyond” and more), now has another new series of his own.

BBC America announced today that it has greenlit “Intruders,” a new original series written and executive produced by Morgan. The thriller is an adaptation of Michael Marshall Smith’s novel “The Intruders,” and is about a secret society whose quest for immortality has led them to seek refuge in the bodies of others. The eight hourlong episode season will begin production in the spring of 2014. Jane Tranter and Julie Gardner will executive producer for BBC Worldwide Productions.

“‘Intruders’ features an imaginative premise that fits perfectly with BBC America’s signature block of complex and otherworldly dramas led by ‘Doctor Who’ and ‘Orphan Black.’ Glen Morgan has delivered a brilliant script, and we’re thrilled to be working with Glen, Jane Tranter, Julie Gardner and our colleagues at BBC Worldwide Productions on this provocative new series,” said BBC America’s Perry Simon in the announcement. While BBC America recently canceled its first wholly owned original series “Copper” after two seasons, the network has found immense success with the clone drama “Orphan Black.”

This isn’t the only TV project in the works for Morgan — he’s the executive producer and showrunner on “Those Who Kill,” A&E’s upcoming adaptation of the Danish crime series of the same name, with Chloë Sevigny and James D’Arcy in the lead roles.
