Denise Kasell Leaves Coolidge Theater

After five years of working as Executive Director of the Coolidge Corner Cinemas organization in Brookline, Massachusetts, Denise Kasell recently resigned her position in order to return to her home state of New York and be closer to her loved ones. Her invaluable efforts during her time at the Coolidge will surely be missed.

Besides helping develop the theater’s diverse programs she also expanded social media strategies, worked on the redesign of
the Coolidge website, and the addition of HD state-of-the-art digital projection. Kasell’s passion extended to all areas of the institution seeking innovative ways to enrich the organization.

the Coolidge is in solid shape thanks to creative, smart and skillful
programming,” stated the Coolidge’s Board.  “One can’t walk by the place
without feeling the exceptional energy and vitality.  The diversity
of programs and offerings is outstanding.  The seats are full.  Members
and non-members alike are raving (and referring) fans.   Denise
integrated the beer and wine concession and not only is it a
money-maker, but it has improved the overall ambiance and ‘cool
factor’ of the Theater.  She anticipated the evolution of film
technology and is upgrading our systems and equipment appropriately and
has used clever fundraising techniques to support the upgrades.   The
Coolidge is truly a gem and it has grown and flourished
under Denise’s leadership.  We wish her well back in New York.”

says, “ I had a wonderful five years at the Coolidge, and am extremely
satisfied of what I brought to the organization and the Cinema.  Among
the highlights that I am most proud of is bringing the theater in as a
member of the Art House Convergence, as well as initiating a
relationship with the Copperbridge Foundation and creating a dialogue
through the arts between Cuban filmmakers and artists and our audience.
But, while I still had many plans and projects to tackle,
it was time to go home.  I grew up in Brooklyn – need I say more!”

Denise Kasell outstanding career in the entertainment industry includes ten years as Executive Director of the Hamptons International Film Festival,  as a member of the Board of Directors of New York Women in Film and Television, and as president of President of Sloane Kasell Productions, among many other successful ventures of which the industry should expect more to come.
