With the mid-November release of writer-director Frederik Bond’s “Charlie Countryman” on the horizon, Indiewire has been given an exclusive first look at three additional movie stills from the Bucharest-based romance-crime drama.
“Charlie Countryman” follows Bucharest-bound American (Shia LaBeouf) as the sudden mid-flight death of a passenger sitting next to him intertwines his fate with the deceased man’s daughter Gabi (Evan Rachel Wood). Charlie quickly falls in love with Gabi, but when her stern-faced gangster ex-husband (Mads Mikkelson) comes between them, Charlie finds himself on a gripping drug-fueled journey through the Romanian underworld. In preparing for the evidently chaotic and action-heavy role of Charlie, LaBeouf reportedly tripped on acid in order to get into his character’s colorfully hallucinogenic head.
The film, originally titled “The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman,” is scheduled for a limited November 15 release in the U.S.
