‘The Sopranos’ Creator David Chase Puts On ‘Little Black Dress’ For His Directorial Feature

'The Sopranos' Creator David Chase Puts On 'Little Black Dress' For His Directorial Feature

As the writer and creator of the groundbreaking, bar-setting, measuring-stick-by-which-all-others-are-judged “The Sopranos,” David Chase‘s legacy is set. Everything else from here on out is gravy, and if it even approaches the ballpark of quality of his HBO series, that will be an accomplishment alone. And while Chase could easily run with another TV series, he’s taking the leap to features to see if he can work his magic there. While his first at bat with last year’s music drama “Not Fade Away” didn’t quite hit the mark, he’s getting ready to give it another shot.

Paramount has snapped up and fast tracked “Little Black Dress,” a spec penned by Chase which he will direct. The story will center on a twentysomething, disabled, female Afghanistan war veteran who gets involved with a superstitious NYPD detective who could just be her saving grace. It’s rather surprising to see any studio spending money on a drama, but then again, it’s not every day someone of Chase’s calibre walks in with a script he wants to get made.

No word yet on when this might roll, but it seems Paramount is hot to get it going sooner rather than later. [Deadline]
