Contest: Win Signed Soundtrack From Turkey's Official Oscar Entry 'The Butterfly's Dream'

The nice thing about the awards season is that it shines a light on films we might not have heard of from parts of the world whose cinematic works don’t often get a big spotlight in the United States. And so it goes with “The Butterfly’s Dream,” and we have a contest today that will hopefully leave you a bit more familiar with the film.

Written and directed by Yilmaz Erdogan, the film follows two young poets in the 1940s who make a bet between them over a girl they both like: whoever the woman chooses will win the bet, with the other promising to step aside. The poets however have to deal with other problems like disease, poverty, compulsory work in the mines and the Second World War in the meantime. As the story unravels, the poets travel through cities and events in search of happiness. Is it the optimist who’s the bravest or the pessimist? You’ll have to watch and see.

The film has been earning accolades at home and abroad, officially selected as Turkey’s Oscar entry while winning the Public Choice Award for Best Score at the World Soundtrack Academy Awards in Ghent, Belgium. And today we have a signed copy of the score by Rahman Altin and some runner-up prizes as well. So how do you win? Email us your name and address and let us know which recent foreign film took you surprise. Good luck!

Below you can hear a sample of the score and check out the trailer for the film.
