Lake Bell Tells Simon Pegg To ‘Man Up,’ Ron Livingston Is A ‘Supreme Ruler’ & More

Lake Bell Tells Simon Pegg To 'Man Up,' Ron Livingston Is A 'Supreme Ruler' & More

Three indie movies with three fine talents getting involved so let’s get started… First off, actress/writer/director/auto enthusiast/generally awesome person Lake Bell has joined Simon Pegg in “Man Up.” The 2011 Brit List script by Tess Morris “centers on single gal Nancy (Bell), who’s mistaken for a stranger’s blind date en route to her parents’ anniversary, leading to her finally finding the perfect boyfriend.” Aww, sounds like it’ll punch you right in the feelings box. Ben Palmer (“The Inbetweeners Movie“) is at the helm and production will begin in January.

As if Tim Blake Nelson‘s “Anesthesia” didn’t have enough folks already—Kristen Stewart, Sam Waterston, Glenn Close, Corey Stoll, Gretchen Mol, Michael K. Williams, Gloria Reuben, Jessica Hecht, Mickey Sumner, K. Todd Freeman—one more is joining the ranks with Katie Chang (the queen bee of “The Bling Ring“) coming onboard. The movie “follows a group of New Yorkers whose lives intersect after the violent mugging of a popular Columbia University professor.” We’re certainly intrigued.

Lastly, Ron Livingston will take a break from “Boardwalk Empire” to work his comedy muscles in “Supreme Ruler.” He’ll co-star with Vincent D’Onofrio, Marcia Gay Harden and Brian Geraghty in the story of a “small town go-getter (Livingston) whose dream of becoming ‘Supreme Ruler’ of his local Buffalo Lodge is unexpectedly challenged by a hard-drinking womanizer (D’Onofrio). The two men are forced to travel to the Buffalo National Convention in Chicago in order to win the support of the organization’s national leaders.” Duane Edwards will direct but he needs to firm up financing first.
