Lynne Ramsay Fires Back, Says Allegations In 'Jane Got A Gun' Lawsuit Are "Simply False"

And so, as the western “Jane Got A Gun” heads into post-production, the main conversation about the movie still remains around what exactly happened when Lynne Ramsay abruptly left the movie at the 11th hour. Her sudden exit caused a flurry of changes in casting and of course, in directing, with Gavin O’Connor ultimately stepping in to guide the movie and bring it over the finish line. But it seems there are still plenty of hurt feelings to go around.

Last week, producers filed a fairly colorful lawsuit suing the filmmaker for various financial damages and alleging she was essentially drunk and dangerous on set. And while Ramsay has yet to give her full side of the story, she has fired back with a brief statement that basically says nothing about rumors of her conduct on her movie are true. Here’s the statement from her camp:

Lynne Ramsay has not been served with this lawsuit and, when she is, she will respond in court and not in the media. That said, the allegations as recently reported are simply false. Lynne looks forward to presenting the truth about this situation in the proper forum.

They say any publicity is good publicity, but it might behoove everyone involved to put this to rest as soon as possible so that they can start talking about the movie that was actually made, not the one that wasn’t. [Deadline]
