Oprah Winfrey to Receive Santa Barbara International Film Festival's 2014 Montecito Award

The Santa Barbara International Film Festival will honor Oprah Winfrey with its Montecito Award at the 29th edition of the fest, to acknowledge her performance in “Lee Daniels’ The Butler,” which has gained awards buzz, and as a celebration
of her overall career. The Tribute takes place on February 5, 2014.

The Montecito recognizes a
performer who has given a series of classic and standout performances
throughout her or his career.
Previous recipients include Daniel Day-Lewis,
Geoffrey Rush, Julianne Moore, Kate Winslet, Javier Bardem, Naomi Watts and
Annette Bening, who was the very first recipient in 2005.

Winfrey’s fellow star in “The Butler,” Forest Whitaker, will receive the fest’s Kirk Douglas Award at a ceremony on December 15.

SBIFF runs January
30 – February 9, 2014.
