Watch 'Many Voices' Episode 4 - On Black Gay & Transgender Christians In The Church

Here’s the fourth out of six installments of Many Voices, a documentary web series
created by filmmaker Katina Parker for
the Many Voices organization.

The goal of the series is to feature the personal stories
of African American lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ)
people who came of age in Black churches. The web campaign profiles not only
lay people, but high-profile clergy as well.

The mission of the organization is to foster a Black Church
movement for gay and transgender justice. It also offers training, resources,
and relationship-building opportunities for interested church leaders and Black
LGBTQ people.

This latest episode features Julia Wallace, theologian and the co-founder of the Mobile Homecoming Project in Durham, NC.

For Wallace, her strong Christianity defines who she
is. As she says it is “who I am is a gift from God, from the
Creator, and it is exactly who I am supposed to be in this lifetime. Learning
more about the history of Christianity and the Bible allowed me to see that it could
be used as a tool for love, for liberation, and that it is my choice to use it
that way.

YouTube channel HERE, and their Facebook page HERE. You can also go to Many
Voices’ own website HERE.
