Don’t Miss Oscar Shortlisted ‘The Act of Killing’ Bundle, Now on BitTorrent

Don't Miss Oscar Shortlisted 'The Act of Killing' Bundle, Now on BitTorrent

Peer-to-peer file sharing protocol BitTorrent has launched a free bundle of supplemental material for rookie filmmaker Joshua Oppenheimer’s Oscar shortlisted documentaryThe Act of Killing.” In tandem with the film’s release on iTunes, the bundle is now available to download, courtesy of BitTorrent and distributor Drafthouse Films. All you need is a file sharing client (i.e. Vuze). (Our review is here, and Indiewire’s interview with Oppenheimer here.)

The bundle includes:

    • VICE Presents: Werner Herzog and Errol Morris on The Act of Killing (VIDEO – watch here)
    • Democracy Now! Joshua Oppenheimer Interview (VIDEO)
    • Essay: Errol Morris on The Act of Killing (PDF)
    • Essay: Indonesia on the impact of The Act of Killing, TEMPO Magazine (PDF)
    • The Act of Killing Stills (PHOTOGRAPHS)
    • The Act of Killing Trailer (VIDEO)

In this disturbing and provocative documentary, Oppenheimer challenges a group of Indonesian death squad leaders to reenact and comment on their ’60s mass murders of government dissenters. Together they create a series of bizarre, violently staged and strangely beautiful set pieces.

Like Cinedigm’s spring 2013 partnership with BitTorrent, the bundle underscores the emerging distribution platform’s growing status. More on “The Act of Killing,” and the bundle, on BitTorrent’s blog here
