Gal Gadot of 'Fast and Furious' Franchise Is Wonder Woman in 'Batman vs. Superman' UPDATED

UPDATE: Actress Gal Gadot has been cast as Wonder Woman in Zack Snyder’s “Batman vs. Superman.” Gadot is best known for her role as Gisele in “Fast & Furious,” “Fast Five” and this past summer’s global hit “Furious 6.”

“Batman vs. Superman” lands on July 17, 2015. Check out the results of our poll, below, where we asked readers to pick their ideal big-screen Wonder Woman.

EARLIER: Warner Bros. is reportedly narrowing the field on who should play Wonder Woman in Zack Snyder’s Batman-Superman team-up. Per sources cited by Variety, Olga Kurylenko, Gal Gadot (of the “Fast and Furious” franchise) and Elodie Young (“G.I. Joe: Retaliation”) are all testing for the part. Who do you think would make the best Wonder Woman, a role that’s eluded the big screen for years now? Poll below.

Wonder Woman requires an intimidating
package of athleticism and sexuality that seems
to confuse everyone. These femme action roles are tricky, because they require walking the tightrope of just the right mix of tough kick-ass and babe: Michelle Pfeiffer and Anne Hathaway scored as Batman villain Catwoman, but Halle Berry’s solo Catwoman was a box office flop. Angelina Jolie, Jessica Chastain and other established stars don’t need the career boost. Scarlett Johansson is already embedded in the Marvel universe as Black Widow. “Alias” star Jennifer Garner, previously Elektra (which did not go over) and currently Batman star Ben Affleck’s wife in real life, may be too girl-next-door. “Underworld” star Kate Beckinsale has the requisite chops, but “Fast & Furious” star Michelle Rodriguez may veer too close to the I’ll-bust-your-balls side.

While the traditional image of Wonder Woman is Caucasian (see TV’s Linda Carter above), this is 2013 and we live in a globalized world — she could come from anywhere. It appears, based on the current shortlist, that Warners is looking to cast a non-star in the role. Whoever they pick has to hold her own between Affleck and Henry Cavill.

While we think “The Americans” star Keri Russell would rock, she thinks that her boobs are too small. Rumored candidate Gina Carano (“Haywire”) has the ass-kicking required, but her acting proved wooden in the Soderbergh action vehicle. Better actors with action skills include Danai Gurira of “The Walking Dead,” Tatiana Maslany of “Orphan Black,” Kerry Washington (“Scandal”), Maggie Q (“Nikita”), Katee Sackhoff (“Battlestar Gallactica”), Rinko Kikuchi (“Pacific Rim”), Ming Na (“Agents of Shield”), Rihanna, who registered better than many of the guys on “Battleship,” and Hayden Panettiere of “Nashville,” who boasts the right mix of athletic curves and grit.

What do you think? Who have we left out?
