We suppose there are two ways to look at Warner Brothers plans to release “Mad Max: Fury Road” during the summer of 2015 (which will essentially be three years after filming began): either the glass is half full or the glass is half empty. And for director George Miller, who is now in the midst of additional shooting on the picture, he’s brimming with optimism about his movie, about WB’s plans for it and even some of the early feedback he’s been receiving.
”Our film, luckily, after a ridiculous amount of work, is testing extremely well,” the director told The Sydney Morning Herald. ”We’re very happy. There has been a lot of doubt about it, [people saying] ‘it took so long’, but Warners have delayed it until 2015 to go into the top weekend of the year.” It should also be noted that part of the studio’s decision to hold the movie rather than release it next year, was likely to avoid the scheduling problem usually caused by the World Cup in international territories.
So after swatting down rumors of a troubled production, Miller also addressed the rumbling word around his movie that the original Max Rockatansky—Mel Gibson—would be appearing in this new installment of the franchise. ‘It would have been nice somehow but, no, it’s not true,” Miller stated.
So there you go. Production continues on “Mad Max: Fury Road” which will hit cinemas on May 15, 2015.
