Louis C.K. Has Signed a Deal to Produce More New Series at FX

Louis C.K. took this year off from “Louie,” the sui generis FX comedy he writes, produces, directs and, of course, stars in, understandably needing time to refresh. The fourth season of the show will return in May 2014, but today FX announced that the comedian has also signed an overall deal with the network to develop and produce more new series via his Pig Newton company.

C.K. will executive produce any series that come from the deal, and retains the option to write or direct any of them, but clearly this is a way for C.K. to handpick new talent and help them get their shows on the air.

“Working with Louis CK has been one of the most rewarding and enjoyable experiences of my career,” said FX CEO John Landgraf in the announcement. “So many incredibly talented artists want to work with Louis and follow down the independent and idiosyncratic creative trail he has blazed. I can’t wait to see who he brings through our door, not to mention any new projects that he wants to create for us.”

“Louie” executive producer Blair Breard will also serve as a producer or executive producer on any new series that come from this deal with FX, with 3 Arts Entertainment attached as producers.
