Netflix Releases a Trailer for Its Streaming Yule Log Offerings: 'It will warm your heart!'

New York City television station WPIX first came up with the idea to broadcast footage of a crackling fireplace on Christmas Eve as both a way to give employees a break on the holiday and to allow apartment-dwelling city residence to get an approximate of a cozy fire without being able to have one in their own homes. The original “Yule Log” and other versions have since spread to other channels, home video and, naturally the internet — including Netflix, who today released a tongue-in-cheek trailer touting their “Fireplace For Your Home” offerings (comes with music or without!). “It will warm your heart,” according to the video, which was accompanied by a deadpan “Behind the Scenes” spoof in which the fireplace director is shown taking his job very seriously.

We’d be remiss if we didn’t point out that Hulu also has Yule Log programming, including “Christmas Fireplace” and “Fireplace for Your Home” in classic, classic with music and holiday editions

There’s also a documentary on the program, “The WPIX Yule Log: A Log’s Life,” though it, unfortunately, does not seem to be available to stream. WPIX itself will only be streaming “The Yule Log” online on Christmas Eve this year, before airing on the channel, as has become its tradition, on Christmas morning.
