Project of the Day: ‘Spaced’ Tells the Story of High School Best Friends’ Relationship Just Got Complicated

Project of the Day: 'Spaced' Tells the Story of High School Best Friends' Relationship Just Got Complicated

Here’s your daily dose of an indie film in progress; at the end of the week, you’ll have the chance to vote for your favorite.

In the meantime: Is this a movie you’d want to see? Tell us in the comments.

space___d

Tweetable Logline:

Krista and Marlie are best friends and high school just got way too complicated.

Elevator Pitch:

space___d is a short (7 min.) film about adolescence. Krista and Marlie are that age when shaping your identity seems clear and absolute. I use the word “adulting,” to reference this notion that there is an adult/mature/right-way to be. We all get confused by the social need to conform to adult behaviors. Krista and Marlie are as close as two friends could be, sadly they come to the conclusion that their friendship will have to end simply because “it’s high school.” In their world high school is the beginning of adulthood.

Production Team:

Joel Garber – Producer
Sinisa Kukic – Cinematographer
Adrienne Subia – Music
Ashely Gallegos – Music
Cat Lauigan – Collage Artist
Daniel Juenemann – Lighting
Assistant Camera – Angela Park
Allegra Csyani – Make-up/Effects

About the Production:

“space___d is the second film in a series of shorts titled, in this world. The series questions one’s responsibility to Earth (moonless), to yourself (space__d) and to others (orbiters). The presence of a spaceship lingers in the background of each film reminding us to see beyond ourselves and our struggling own existence.” — Maria Judice

Current Status:

Post-production.
