Project of the Day: 'War Path,' A Coming-of-Age Crime Drama

Here’s your daily dose of an indie film in progress; at the end of the week, you’ll have the chance to vote for your favorite.

In the meantime: Is this a movie you’d want to see? Tell us in the comments.

“War Path”

Tweetable Logline:

A coming-of-age crime drama about a professional hit man who has made some very bad decisions, ones that will threaten everyone he loves.

Elevator Pitch:

Joel Carrero is an aimless, down-on-his-luck, newlywed hit man in the middle of a bad economy. His boss, Frank, coerces him into performing a dangerous hit to a corrupt police officer in exchange for a hefty payday. However, secrets are revealed in the middle of the job that threaten to destroy Joel’s entire world if they were to come out and breaks contact with Frank. Joel’s wife is kidnapped and what follows is a roaring rampage of revenge!

Production Team:

Writer/Director: Casey de Fremery (The Black Hearts, God Hates Zombies, The Epilogue)
Cinematographer: Ferguson Sauve-Rogan (Return to Nowhere)
Producer: Chloe Tokuno (Mendoza Line)

About the Production:

“War Path” originally came about after being made as a storyline music video for a contest that Linkin Park sponsored. The music video was the basic feature film storyline condensed to a 4 minute video, done as a Hollywood action movie pitch reel. It didn’t win but the video came out so good that, when looking to do my debut feature film, I wanted to adapt it. I grew up on crime films and wanted to try something different, something relevant to modern times and be in the same universe as the films of my idols.

Current Status:

Preproduction, in the middle of fundraising with Kickstarter.
