While Aussie Baz Luhrmann’s “The Great Gatsby” is unlikely to nab any above-the-line Oscar nominations in the upcoming awards season–tech noms are a possibility, of course–it’s scoring across the board at the Australian Oscars, with nominations announced Tuesday. “Gatsby” landed 14 nods, leading the pack with a Best Picture nod, and Acting nods for stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan, Joel Edgerton, Elizabeth Debicki and Isla Fisher.
In terms of winning Best Picture, “Gatsby” has Kim Mordaunt’s coming-of-age tale “The Rocket” to contend with, also Australia’s official entry for the stateside Foreign-Language Oscar race. The full list of Australian Academy Award nominees is here.
