'The Wolfman' Lives As NBC Series, D.J. Caruso To Direct Sci-Fi Pilot 'Tin Man' & Diablo Cody Teams With Oprah Winfrey

Despite the dead-on-arrival 2010 film, it seems “The Wolfman” is being revived for the small screen, thanks in no small part to successful shows like the FOX show “Sleepy Hollow,” NBC’s “Dracula” or any of the other dozens of vampire-centric, fairy tale-esque, horror-tinged shows currently on air. Deadline reports NBC has tapped “Dracula” showrunner Daniel Knauf to shepherd the new take which is “described as a supernatural thriller that explores what it means to be a man and to be a human.” It’s unclear if the show will be set in the present day.

Staying with news from the Peacock network, Deadline also reports “Eagle Eye” and “Disturbia” director D.J. Caruso will helm the pilot for NBC’s “Tin Man.” Don’t be fooled by the title, it has nothing to do with the Land of Oz. On the contrary, the show “is a psychological crime thriller that focuses on a fugitive robot accused of first-degree murder, who may hold the key to the future of human evolution, and the young female public defender force to fight for his cause.” The pilot—set, of course, “in the near future”—is written by Ehren Kruger, the scribe behind the American remake of “The Ring.”

Here’s a sentence we never thought we’d write: Diablo Cody and Benevolent Supreme Ruler Oprah Winfrey will join forces for a comedy on HBO. Per THR, the two unlikely partners are developing an adaptation of Dr. Julie Holland’s “Moody Bitches: The Truth About the Drugs You’re Taking, the Sex You’re Not Having, The Sleep You’re Missing and What’s Really Making You Crazy.” The upcoming non-fiction book “explores the pros and cons of the drugs people are being offered as well as some surprising and highly effective natural therapies.” The series is said to be “inspired by” as opposed to being outright based on Dr. Holland’s book. Cody will write the pilot and share executive producing credit with Winfrey.
