A first trailer has arrived for Matt Reeves’ “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes,” starring Jason Clarke, Gary Oldman, Keri Russell and Andy Serkis, among others. Watch below.
TOH! sat down with director Reeves (“Let Me In”) at this past summer’s Comic-Con, and got the scoop on various secrets about the upcoming film, which is the follow-up installment to Rupert Wyatt’s 2011 “Rise of the Planet of the Apes,” which took in a worldwide haul of $483 million.
This film is set several years in the future after “Rise,” when ape Caesar (mo-capped Serkis) is leading a primate uprising. Here’s the official synopsis:
A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar
is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a
decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both
sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as
Earth’s dominant species.
The 20th Century Fox film hits theaters July 11, 2014.
