Following the recent theatrical release of Michel Gondry’s experimental philosophy-animation documentary “Is the Man Who Is Tall Happy?” featuring an animated conversation with Noam Chomsky, The Creators Project has posted “An Afternoon With Michel Gondry” video.
The roughly nine and a half minute clip features an extended conversation with Gondry in his Brooklyn home discussing and demonstrating the process of animating Chomsky’s philosophical discourse. The French film director takes us through his mind-numbingly laborious and yet creatively liberating sketches and photography that culminate in “Is the Man Who Is Tall Happy?” Gondry’s latest triumph and divergence from his music video past.
“Is the Man Who Is Tall Happy?” was released theatrically November 22 and is currently playing the IFC Center in New York City.
