'Vampire Academy' Soundtrack Features Katy Perry, Goldfrapp, Sky Ferreira, Chvrches & More

Vampire Academy” is the newest young adult adaptation that hopes to take the country by storm this upcoming Valentine’s Day. Directed by Mark Waters (“Mean Girls”) and scripted by Daniel Waters (“Heathers”), the tone of the latest trailer seems to suggest that the movie will at least try to have fun with its dopey premise which will hopefully set it apart from “The Mortal Instruments,” “Beautiful Creatures,” and the upcoming “Divergent.” Nevertheless, no young adult adaptation is complete without an accompanying soundtrack of “dark” and “edgy” pop music and “Vampire Academy” has given us just that.

Katy Perry, Iggy Azalea, Goldfrapp, Sky Ferreira and Natalia Kills are just a few of the artists that will be included in the compilation. The Scottish synthpop band Chvrches will also be on the soundtrack, covering the Bauhaus song “Bela Lugosi’s Dead” which will appear over the end credits. Oddly enough, the titles for a lot of these songs seem to coincide with the movie’s subject matter perfectly. Look at the tracklist below and you’ll see song titles such as “In Your Grave”, “Red Lips”, “Sinful Nature”… just a couple of vampire-related songs for a movie about vampires that attend vampire school. Isn’t that cute?

“Vampire Academy” stars Zoey Deutch, Olga Kurylenko, and Gabriel Byrne and it comes out on February 14th; the soundtrack hits stores on the 11th. [Film Music Reporter]
