Watch: Newest 'SNL' Cast Member Sasheer Zamata Pokes Fun at 'Girls' Fandom

New “Saturday Night Live” addition Sasheer Zamata made her debut on the NBC comedy institution this past weekend. Zamata’s hire came after the series received considerable and well-deserved attention for its lack of diversity — the Upright Citizens Brigade theater alum is the first black female cast member the series has had since Maya Rudolph left in 2007.

Before the new gig, Zamata appeared on TV series like “Fodder” and “Inside Amy Schumer,” as well as various online videos like the one below, a new offering from Above Average, the online comedy network belonging to Lorne Michaels’ Broadway Video. It feature Zamata as Madison, a “denim theory” major from Oberlin who gives “Girls” tours in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, showing off important landmarks from the show like the garbage can in which Hannah illegal dumped trash from work. Take a look below.

(And while the video’s a gag and fictional, the phenomenon it describes has been on the verge of happening for a while, with the bus company that runs the “Sex in the City” tours having admitted they were in the early stages of developing an offering based on the Lena Dunham HBO series. So consider the joke on all of us.)
