“Broad City,” the half-hour scripted comedy starring Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer, has been renewed for a second season by Comedy Central. The Hollywood Reporter states executive producer Amy Poehler confirmed the renewal on Seth Myers’ Late Night talk show Monday night.
What was originally a web series has now become a successful television show with many critics standing behind it. Indiewire‘s TV Editor Alison Willmore said “Broad City” is “very, very funny, in a joyfully slovenly way.” It may only be attracting a niche audience on Comedy Central, but the show’s supporters are vehement.
Poehler is still waiting to hear whether or not her own show, “Parks and Recreation,” will be renewed for a seventh season—what would be its first full season without recently departed cast member Rashida Jones.
