Dan Harmon’s Offbeat Animated Series ‘Rick and Morty’ Gets a Second Season From Adult Swim

Dan Harmon's Offbeat Animated Series 'Rick and Morty' Gets a Second Season From Adult Swim

Rick and Morty” a half-hour animated comedy series from “Community” creator Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland, has been renewed for a second season by Adult Swim following strong first season ratings and critical acclaim. The show centers on Rick (voiced by Roiland), a deranged, alcoholic genius who drags along his grandson Morty (also Roiland) on dangerous adventures through space and time.

“I am excited to make as much ‘Rick and Morty’ as Adult Swim allows, and I’m relieved to be in a
time slot of no strategic value to CBS,” said co-creator and executive
producer Harmon.

The show, which currently airs Monday nights at 10:30pm on Adult Swim, has exceeded expectations in terms of viewership and has outperformed other shows in similar time slots across multiple networks. It’s one of the mostly late night Adult Swim’s first original primetime series. Sarah Chalke, Chris Parnell and Spencer Grammer are also part of the voice cast.

A premiere date has yet to be set for the second season.
