GoPro Isn't Just for Capturing Extreme Sports, It's Also Pig-Proof: Check Out This Viral Video

GoPro, the small video cameras that lend themselves to action shots, have developed a hardcore following on YouTube and elsewhere on the web with its adrenaline-rush videos of surfers, snowboarders, skiers and other daredevil sports enthusiasts. Indiewire has previously highlighted amazing footage captured using a GoPro, including a flying eagle’s point of view and a fireman rescuing a kitty.

Recently, The New York Times wrote about the the company, specifically how they are trying to leverage GoPro, which bills itself as the “world’s most versatile camera,” as a media brand. The story was amazing publicity for the company, but nothing compared to the attention GoPro has received as the result of a viral video of a GoPro camera falling from a sky diving plane and into a pig pen where it seems to be mistaken for pig food.

A YouTube user named Mia Munselle uploaded the video saying, “Camera falls from a sky diving airplane and lands on my property in my pig pen. I found the camera 8 months later and viewed this video.” The video has been viewed more than 1.8 million times — and has prompted some viewers to question whether it’s for real. What are the odds that a GoPro camera would fall from a sky diving airplane and land in a pig pen? How could the camera survive the fall and still manage to work? And how could Munselle not find the camera for 8 whole months?

Leave it to Redditors to try to get to the bottom of these pressing questions. Although nothing has been settled definitively, whether it’s real or fake, the video has managed to help spread the word about GoPro — more than any newspaper article could.

Check it out for yourself and decide: real or fake?
