Jason Isaacs Will Star in 'Dig,' a USA Network Action Series From the Creators of 'Heroes' and 'Homeland'

A few long-running USA Network shows are about to or have recently ended, including “Burn Notice” and “Psych,” and for its next trick the cable channel is looking to shake things up and try things other than the standard hourlong light comedic drama. They’ll be launching an edgier half-hour comedy, “Sirens,” on March 6th, and now have added an ambitious limited series to its roster, to which they have officially granted a six-episode order. The limited series in question is the action-adventure drama “Dig,” which, according to The Hollywood Reporter, has just cast Jason Isaacs (“Awake,” “Brotherhood”) in the lead role.

“Dig” tells the story of Peter (Isaacs), an FBI agent stationed in Jerusalem who,
while investigating a murder of a female archeologist, uncovers a
conspiracy 2000 years in the making that threatens to change the course
of history. The show, set to film on location in Jerusalem, is co-created and executive produced by Tim Kring (“Heroes”) and Gideon Raff (“Homeland”). Raff has another Middle East-set series coming up on FX — “Tyrant.”

“As we enter this new chapter for our studio and our portfolio, we’ve
been looking for a project that makes a statement,” said Jeff Wachtel, studio head at NBC Universal Cable Entertainment.  “This
team of storytellers has put together a smart, sophisticated and
compelling show that will hit the market with a big bang and a lasting

“Dig” will premiere on the USA Network in late 2014. The show is a production of Keshet Media Group
for UCP in cooperation with the city of Jerusalem. USA’s last attempt at a limited series, the 2012 Sigourney Weaver drama “Political Animals,” failed to make much of a splash.
