Indie film distributor Cinedigm has partnered up with Wizard World, the producer behind various Comic Cons around the country (though not the massive San Diego Comic-Con), to create the Digital Comic Con Channel, a platform that will release Comic Con-related content — including films, television episodes, web series, live content and original programming to stream.

This content will be available for subscribers on mobile devices, tablets, gaming consoles and other forms of digital viewing, and an acquisitions team will be sourcing new films, series and other original programming.

“This
is an exciting day for the fans of pop culture around the country,” said John Macaluso, Wizard World’s CEO. “To have 24/7 access to all the
content that Cinedigm and Wizard World provide collectively provide, at
the touch of a button, provides tremendous value for our fans.”

Although the channel remains unnamed, it will give access to viewers to titles from Cinedigm’s 2,000-episode anime library, with free-to-consumer, advertising supported streaming and premium subscription options planned to be available. Wizard World has already started gathering talent from the conventions for the original content section of the channel. For 2014, 150-200 hours of footage will be available for streaming.
