Watch: 'Fight Harm' Team Harmony Korine & David Blaine Reunite For Short 'Needle'

As fans of Harmony Korine know, one of his holy grail works is “Fight Harm,” a project that he was working on with David Blaine in the late ’90s following “Gummo,” that was literally the director going out into the street and getting into fights with strangers. “I don’t know, I have to wait and see. It’s one of those things I go back and forth on, whether it’s more powerful as an idea or whether I should show knife fights,” Korine told us last year when we asked if it would ever see the light of day. “Only time will tell. It’s difficult for me to make that decision to show it. It’s just brutal. And it’s also hilarious, but it’s hard for me to go back and look at that. It was pretty intense.” But he’s since found another way to pair up with magician, with a project that’s probably a bit more productive.

The duo have been signed up by skate company Supreme to create a series of videos that will follow Blaine interacting with random skaters in Cashville, Virginia, and showing them a variety of jaw-dropping illusions. And the table has been set with “Needle,” running one minute long, and featuring Blaine—in a trademark trick—running a needle through his arm with no pain or blood.

It makes perfect sense actually – he goes hard. He’s an original American headcase,” Korine told Dazed about his collaboration with Blaine. “Nobody else sticks shish kebab skewers through their biceps as a hobby. No one else gargles lighter fluid instead of mouthwash. No one else can rip off a chickens head and then re-attach it perfectly. No one else sleeps in a heated pizza oven at night. Classic shit.”
