Here’s the second teaser for Stand By Me Doreamon, the first 3D CG film starring the famed anime robot cat, opening in Japanese theaters on August 8th. Directed by Takashi Yamazaki and Ryuichi Yagi, this film will be released by Walt Disney International Japan.
Created by manga artist duo Fujiko Fujio (Hiroshi Fujimoto and Motoo Abiko) Doraemon made his debut in 1969. The premise, about a robotic cat sent from a boy in the future to help a hapless boy in present day, is one of the most popular cartoon series in Japan. Their are over 1700 episodes of the Doreamon TV series, which began in 1973. There were over 30 theatrical features (all traditional hand drawn), practically a new one every year since 1980. This is the first Doremon film animated on computers.
The first teaser (below) strangely enough, contains more footage from the finished film.
