Taking a break between “X-Men” movies, Bryan Singer is set to direct CBS’ hot commodity, “Battle Creek.” Best known as the “other new Vince Gilligan show” (with the more common reference being “Better Call Saul”), “Battle Creek” was written years ago by the “Breaking Bad” creator and received a straight-to-series order from CBS back in September.
According to Deadline Hollywood, Singer will also serve as executive producer for the series. The director of “Superman Returns” and “Valkyrie” has a rich history in TV, including stints on “Dirty Sexy Money” and “House M.D.” as executive producer. Another “House” alum, David Shore, is serving as showrunner for “Battle Creek.”
Kal Penn (“Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle”) and Janet McTeer (“Damages”) have been cast in the detective drama set in Michigan. Singer also acts as producer for the web series “H+” and the upcoming ABC drama “Black Box.”
What do you think, readers? Does this sound more promising than “Better Call Saul,” or will you be sticking with the original characters of “Breaking Bad”?
