Exclusive: A Robbery Gets Planned In Clip From SXSW & Fantasia Film Festival Winner 'Cheap Thrills'

They say when opportunity knocks, you should open the door, but that adage is taken to twisted levels in the forthcoming Cheap Thrills,” where a night of boozy drinking leads to decidedly sinister activities.

Pat Healy, Sara Paxton, Ethan Embry, and David Koechner star in E.L. Katz‘s directorial debut follows Craig, a struggling family man who loses his low-wage job and is threatened with eviction. He runs into an old friend at the bar, and soon the pair are throwing them back with wealthy stranger and his wife, with the evening soon turning into a series of innocent dares in exchange for much needed cash. However, as you’ll see in this clip, the good times provide a window for Craig to get the kind of money he desperately needs.

“Cheap Thrills” has been building buzz for a good while picking up an Audience Award at SXSW and a Jury Prize at Fantasia in 2013. And we called the film The Hangover‘ taken to an absurdly nihilistic degree.”

“Cheap Thrills” is now available on cable VOD, iTunes and will open in select theaters on Friday, March 21st. Watch below.
