“Doc of the Dead,” the new documentary from “The People vs. George Lucas” director Alexandre O. Philippe, will debut on Epix on March 15th at 8pm as part of a 24-hour zombie marathon after having its world premiere at SXSW on March 10th. The film looks at the evolution of the zombie genre on screen and in pop culture, from its roots in mythology to how it got to its present day carnivorous incarnation, with interviews with director George A. Romero, special effects master Tom Savini and “The Walking Dead” creator Robert Kirkman. In the exclusive clip from the doc below, Simon Pegg and others discuss why zombies have so much appeal in fiction.
