Lena Dunham's Not Sure If She Wants to Act Anymore

Lena Dunham’s hilarious turn on this past weekend’s SNL reiterated something: Aside from being a talented writer and director, the woman’s got delivery chops. She’s easily the strongest actress of the four female leads on “Girls.” But, per an interview with Glamour magazine, Dunham may not want to be in front of the camera for much longer.

She said to Glamour:

“I don’t know if I’m going to want to act
anymore. I’m always relieved on the days I don’t have to.
I’d rather give parts to other women than be the woman having the parts.”

Now, HBO has already ordered a fourth season of “Girls,” and Hannah Horvath’s the anchor of that show. Clearly Dunham mulling over the possibility of giving up acting would be more of a long-term consideration. Perhaps if she returns to feature filmmaking?

As the Playlist points out, Dunham hasn’t jumped at too many acting projects outside of her own, with the exception of smaller roles in friends and collaborators’ works (Judd Apatow’s “This Is 40” and Joe Swanberg’s “Happy Christmas,” for example).
Either way, Dunham and her hyperbolic career path continue to be of high interest.
