NBC Officially Renews 'Parks and Recreation' for a Seventh Season; 'Grimm' and 'Chicago Fire' Too

Fear not, Pawneans. Leslie Knope will be around for at least one more year. NBC officially gave “Parks and Recreation” the go ahead for a seventh season Thursday, along with “Grimm,” “Chicago Fire,” and “Chicago P.D.” NBC’s Bob Greenblatt went “out on a limb” two months ago saying the sitcom from Michael Schur would be back, and now his prediction has come true.

Schur and his cast gathered Tuesday night at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood for Paleyfest where they discussed their show in depth. Poehler expressed no desire for the show to close, heaping love on her character and cast members. “I would like to have a happy ending for her. I don’t want to think about the ending […] but it’s coming. Her progression has been effectively and appropriately slow. I love that her dreams are big and her power is small. I think that she’s met the love of her life, and that’s sometimes enough.”

The four scripted series are the first early pickups from NBC. A new “Parks and Recreation” airs this Thursday at 8:30 pm.
