As Darren Aronofsky‘s “Noah” prepares to ride the multiplex seas in a few short weeks, Paramount is still figuring out how to market the movie, in particular to religious groups. They want the all important Christian audience to spend their money on the Biblical tale, but they also don’t want to offend them as Aronofsky’s take on the story isn’t your grandmother’s Sunday School version. And all of this has to led to rather curious amendment to the trailers for the the upcoming movie.
THR reports that ads for “Noah” will include the following disclaimer: “The film is inspired by the story of Noah. While artistic license has been taken, we believe that this film is true to the essence, values and integrity of a story that is a cornerstone of faith for millions of people worldwide. The biblical story of Noah can be found in the book of Genesis.” Uh, aren’t stories in the Bible already told with artistic license by the people who wrote them down in the first place (and then revised again and again over hundreds of years?).
Anyway, it’s an expensive movie which means that Paramount is looking to recoup wherever they can, with Home Accents Today revealing there will be an official candle called Rain that “adds to the sensory excitement of the film layering notes of moisture-laden sage over gusts of clean, fresh breezes.” That godly fragrance will set you back $26 dollars — you can take a look at the candle below.
Lastly, a batch of new images via Cine Marcado have arrived with stills from the movie and behind-the-scenes pics, along with a motion poster and TV spot.
