Here’s your daily dose of an indie film in progress; at the end of the week, you’ll have the chance to vote for your favorite.
In the meantime: Is this a movie you’d want to see? Tell us in the comments.
Elevator Pitch: An elderly couple, cryonically preserved at death, are revived in the distant future. Hugh and Candace awaken to find their minds and memories are intact, but now reside inside freshly-cloned, 20-year-old bodies. What unfolds is a drama, spiked with humor, as the two come to grips with the joys and challenges of a second life. What will they do with this second chance?
Production Team:
Don R. Lewis – Producer (THE VIOLENT KIND, HOLY GHOST PEOPLE)
Kirk Douglas – Director of Photography
Stars – Jared Abrahamson (FINDING A FAMILY), Joslyn Jensen (WITHOUT) and Jennifer Lafleur (THE DO-DECA-PENTATHLON).
About the Production: The idea for NEW was sparked by an article about people who have their bodies preserved in liquid nitrogen after death, in the hope that future medical technology will restore them to life. It was a fascinating look into people’s beliefs about mortality and identity, their attitudes about their current lives, and their plans to live another. NEW is by far my most ambitious project to date – we raised over $22,000 via crowdfunding to produce this 15-minute film.
